Straight style split rail fence. The distinctive feature of a direct style wood fence is the use of two fence posts at each subsequent point along the fence line. The messages are placed along the line of the straight fence at intervals of 1 foot less than the length of the rails. There should be enough space between the two poles. Also each point along the fence line to accommodate the thickness of the rails. A block is placed between the poles at ground level to raise the lower rail of the earth. The rails are placed between the posts in each other space between the posts. Place the next lane course on the opposite sections of the fence. A wooden fence snake style can be built without fence posts. The fence is not constructed in a straight line. But rather a series of left and right angles that carry the fence along the line of the desired fence. The bottom course of the fence can be placed on the ground or in blocks. The lower rail is placed on all other segments of the fence. The next rail is placed between the lower rails with railway courses stacked on the fence in alternating segments until the proper height is reached.

If it is constructed correctly, the fence does not require any entry. However, if the fence will be used to contain livestock, a post can be added to the inside of each set at an angle. The ends of the fence can be left with the exit rails to the ground or finished with a double post similar to the straight style fence. And American-style wood fence uses special messages with notches placed properly to accept the ends of the rails. The messages must be set at precise distances apart so the rails fit into the notches correctly.
